Turkey to reach new record in tourism - Erdogan
Trend | April 10, 2018- Turkey will reach a new record in tourism in 2018, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, Turkish media reported April 9.
Erdogan said that the tourism sector is one of the fastest growing in the country.
“We also need to pay special attention to the development of tourism in the provinces bordering Iran,” Erdogan said. “Iranian tourists often visit the Turkish provinces bordering Iran, and this shows that it is necessary to develop tourist infrastructure in these provinces.”
Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Turkey expects the number of tourists visiting the country to be over 30 million in 2018.
A total of 1.52 million foreigners visited Turkey in February 2018, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism said in a report.
According to the report, 2.98 million foreigners visited Turkey in January-February 2018.
