Iran minister meets with President Aliyev

Baku, Dec 27, IRNA – Minister of Communications and Information Technology and co-chairman of Tehran-Baku Joint Economic Commission conferred with President Ilham Aliyev on ways to develop trade and economic cooperation Tuesday.

Vaezi conveyed greetings of President Hassan Rouhani to President Aliyev and underlined importance of development of ties between the two countries.

Vaezi said that Iran signed tripartite agreements with Russia and Turkey on cooperation to end the humanitarian crisis in Syria.

Vaezi said that Iran put Syria as priority of its foreign policy in line with International Law which enshrined the rights of every nation to determine their own fate and future.

Vaezi said that the international community is expected to take collective measures to restore regional security and international campaign against terrorism.

He presented a report on Iran and Azerbaijan Republic cooperation in the field of energy and said that history shows that consultations and exchange of views between the oil and gas producing countries would prevent oil price falls.

Vaezi expressed satisfaction with the progress made in transport projects, especially construction of Azeri-Iran railway and the passenger train of Nakhichevan and Mashad which is due to run on this Thursday.

Governors general of Ardebil and East Azarbaijan provinces were present in the meeting as well. They presented report on joint provincial projects with Azerbaijan Republic to President Aliyev.

Ilham Aliyev expressed pleasure with progress of cooperation, saying that he is ready to issue executive order to remove all possible obstacles in trade and economic relations between the two countries.

He welcomed expansion of economic ties between Iran and Nakhichevanm saying that supplying energy for Nakhichevan by Iran has special importance for the Azeri government.

President Aliyev announced his country readiness to attend the second trilateral summit meeting of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan Republic in Tehran.

Mahmoud Vaezi is currently on a visit to Baku leading a large economic delegation to attend 11th joint economic commission of Iran and Azerbaijan Republic.

The 11th joint economic commission meeting kicked off its 3-day work on Tuesday.
