Iran condemns terrorist attack on shrine in Pakistan

Tehran, Feb 17, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Friday condemned terrorist bombing at the Shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in the southern city of Sahwan in Sindh province of Pakistan.

Qasemi called for forging a global alliance against terrorism.

Instrumental use of terrorism to meet political objectives is the worst way followed in today’s politics which has destabilized the region and the entire world, he said.

He urged the international community to exercise practical measures without adopting double standards to rid the world of the terrorism forever.

“The world needs to know that the lives of all humans across the world are equally valuable.”

The spokesman said that a global move is needed against terrorism, violence and extremism that requires all the governments and peace-seeking nations to join it.

The explosion at the Shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar took place last night when huge number of people were at the shrine for a ritual ceremony.

The death toll of the terrorist attack has risen to 81, according to informed officials.

A large number of women and children are among the casualties.

Devotees, from across the country, frequently visit the shrine on Thursdays as it is a popular day to visit Sufi shrines.

Daesh (the ISIS) terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, but the government and the army still claim that the Daesh has not organized presence in Pakistan.

The Pakistani government has indirectly accused India and Afghanistan for the deadly attack. Pakistan believes terrorist who have targeted different parts in Pakistan in recent days, have their sanctuaries in Afghanistan.

A nationwide security crackdown has also been launched on Friday in which at least 35 terrorists were killed.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has expressed sorrow and grief over the blast. In his statement, he said such incidents cannot deter the resolve of the nation to defeat common enemies.

Pakistani Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has promised strong retaliation against terrorists in the country.

The bombing at Qalandar's shrine was at least the 7th militant attack over the past five days in Pakistan.
