CCIIP Interested in Signing a MoU with FPCCI
(Karachi P.R. 26th May, 2017) A high powered delegation headed by Mr. Miao Gengshu President of China Council of International Investment Promotion visited Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry. Chinese delegation was welcomed by the President and Vice Presidents of FPCCI. Speaking on this occasion Mr. Zubair Tufail President FPCCI said that bi-lateral trade between Pakistan and China is in favor of China, as their exports to Pakistan are $15.5 Billion while Pakistan’s exports to China are only $2.5 Billion and this gap needs to be reduced in favor of Pakistan by exporting non-traditional products as well. He further added that Pakistani meat and rice is exported to China but due to ASEAN agreement Pakistan cannot export these products duty free and these two products reach China as a result of re-exports from Vietnam and Thailand, therefore Chinese Government must address this issue.
President CCIIP Mr. Miao thanked the President FPCCI for the warm welcome that he received and said that China Pakistan friendship is eternal, and it is beyond economic and trade cooperation, explaining the role of CCIIP he said that his organization acts as a bridge between the Chinese Investors interested in Investing abroad and Foreign Investors interested in investing in China. The 10 member Chinese delegation comprised of prominent businessmen and investors from leading private enterprises and officials. Mr. Miao further explained the purpose of his visit to Pakistan and said that CCIIP is interested in signing an MoU with FPCCI similar to the one CCIIP has signed with Brazil for mutual Trade cooperation and identifying areas for investment as apart from CPEC there is an enormous potential and opportunities available in Pakistan.
President FPCCI welcomed the idea of MoU and mutual cooperation and said that the next meeting shall be in Beijing after Ramadan where both parties shall sign the Memorandum of Understanding.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Aamer Ata Bajwa, Senior Vice President FPCCI, Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, Vice President FPCCI, Mr. Zahid Umar, Chairman Pakistan China Business Council, Dr. Ikhtiar Baig and Board of Directors of PCBC.
