Iran's 'Bodyguard' wins top prizes at VIFF

10 Jul 2017- Iranian feature film 'Bodyguard', directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia, won three top prizes at the 3rd Vienna Independent Film Festival (VIFF 2017) in Austria.

'Bodyguard' took the Best Art Direction, Best Supporting Actor (for Babak Hamidian), and Best Director award at the event. 'Forgiveness' by Rima Irani also won the Best Short Film Award at the festival, IRNA wrote.

'Bodyguard' narrates the story of a middle-aged man who protects high-ranking political figures. However, he gets into trouble when he is assigned to head the security team to protect the vice president and a bomber wearing an explosive vest approaches the vice president.

Vienna Independent Film Festival appreciates films made with a unique artistic vision, as well as free spirit, new ideas, independent point of view, new approaches, individuality and experimentation.

The festival aims to discover "new talented filmmakers who will be able to approach the heights of cinematography created by geniuses such as Antonioni, Fellini, Tarkovsky, Bergman, Visconti, Godard".
