OIC Works to Operationalize Youth Strategy
03/10/2019- The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an open-ended youth and sports steering committee meeting to discuss and adopt OIC youth strategy. The meeting took place at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah on 3 October 2019.
Speakers included OIC Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and Al-Quds Ambassador Samir Bakr Diab, who said many and varied are the challenges that plague the youth of today across the Muslim world, recognizing that an increased level of cooperation, coordination, expertise sharing and two-way capacity building among the member states and various OIC institutions is vital.
He added, “This requires greater efforts from the OIC to empower younger generations and youth-focused institutions with knowledge of Islam’s principles grounded in the values of peace, harmony, coexistence, justice and equity.”
We aim to translate into concrete initiatives this strategy aimed at the Muslim world youth, Ambassador Diab explained.
