ECO Secretary General Visits the Republic of Uzbekistan

On the invitation of the Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission, Dr. Hadi Soliemanpour, the ECO Secretary General visited the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 22, 2019 to witness the elections of the country’s Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. He paid visit to three electoral pools in Samarkand to observe election process.

In his interviews with local and regional media, while extending his deep thanks to the Election Commission for inviting him to attend the event, the ECO Secretary General expressed his satisfaction over the entire electoral process, transparency and competitiveness of the elections. A number of Representatives from other regional and international organizations, members of the diplomatic corps based in Uzbekistan as well as foreign and local media persons also witnessed the electoral process.

During the visit, the ECO Secretary General called on the relevant authorities of Uzbekistan, including Minister of Tourism and Head of Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and exchanged views on the latest activities of the organization in their respective fields.
