OIC Secretary General discusses with UNRWA Commissioner-General Palestine refugee conditions

29/05/2017- The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen, on Sunday 28 May 2017 in his office received the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Mr Pierre Krähenbühl. They explored mechanisms for cooperation to garner budget support for the agency to continue delivering aid to the Palestinian refugees.

The Secretary General emphasized that the OIC is fully committed to assisting and supporting the agency in its vital mission, commending UNRWA’s activity aimed at keeping alive the Palestinian cause until it is resolved within international legitimacy.

Further, the two parties discussed preparations for an international high-level meeting to be held alongside the UN General Assembly’s annual session, the aim being to tailor the Member States’ response to meet the agency’s needs and contribute necessary budget support.
