Expatriates help with FDI for Pakistan

March 13, 2017 - Overseas Pakistan Solidarity (OPS) Chairman Malik Javaid Ahmed said Saturday that expatriates are making practical efforts towards development and prosperity of Pakistan, in addition to attracting maximum Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for the country.

During a meeting with Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) Vice President Rana Sikandar Azam, Ahmed said that expatriates are genuinely trying to assist Pakistan by convincing foreign investors to participate in the country’s growing economy.

“Pakistanis living in different parts of the globe want to witness it a fully developed and prosperous nation where people have all basic amenities,” he said. “They have direct links with foreign investors and they are trying to convince them to invest in Pakistan.” However, he added that in this matter, the FCCI should also play a proactive role as foreign investors cannot afford the bureaucratic attitude of the government departments.

On the other hand, the OPS chairman expressed concern over unsuccessful industrial units in Faisalabad and assured that he will convince investors to launch joint ventures so that these units could be revived and contribute to the overall development of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the FCCI vice-president said that Ahmed’s positive approach was highly appreciable and requested him to present proposals so that these could be discussed later. He also assured that his Organisation will fully protect the investment made by expatriates or foreign investors in local projects.
