US FM congratulates Norouz
Tehran, March 21, IRNA – The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has in a message congratulated all those around the world celebrating Norouz “ancient tradition.”
'I wish a joyful and prosperous Nowruz to all those around the world celebrating this ancient tradition that marks the beginning of spring and the beginning of a new year,” read Tillerson’s congratulation message, posted on the official site of the US State Department.
“Nowruz is a time to look toward the coming year with hope and optimism. We look forward to celebrating this new spring together, and hope that this Nowruz brings peace and prosperity to all,' Tillerson said in his message.
Millions of people in Iran and a number of other countries across the globe celebrate Norouz or the beginning of spring according to the ancient Iranian solar calendar.
Norouz, as spelled in Persian, is celebrated by more than 300 million people worldwide on the day of the spring Equinox, which marks the sun’s crossing of the Equator and the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
