Turkish minister: Tourism an industry for promoting relations among peoples
22 May 2017- Turkey’s Culture and Tourism Minister Nabi Avci described tourism as a lucrative industry for his country, saying Turkey used the industry as a means to promote relations among peoples, open dialogue among civilizations and cultures, and fight against ignorance that “has led to extremism and Islamophobia in today’s world.”
Avci made the remarks at the International Media Forum, which kicked off in the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya on Monday.
“The media plays a major role in fighting against the unprecedented aggression against Islam,” added the minister.
Shifting to the main topics of the forum, Avci called for the participating journalists to introduce Turkey’s tourism and economic capacities to their own people.
The forum, supported by Turkey's Economy Ministry and the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), has brought together members of the international media, representatives, and journalists from 52 countries, according to the Swiss-based ınternational media group, Global Connection (GC).
The forum is aimed at promoting the economy, culture, and the media, said the GC in a statement, adding that the event is part of the “Turkey – Discover the Potential” promotional campaign.
