OIC Secretary General Congratulates Islamic Ummah on the Advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan
26/05/2017- The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Othaimeen, conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to the Islamic Ummah on the occasion of the advent of the Holy month of Ramadan for the current year 1438H. He prayed to Allah, Mighty and Sublime be He, to shower His blessings and gracious guidance on the leaders of the Member States and the people of the Muslim World in this blissful month, to protect their fold against disunity and dispute and to bless the Muslims with His graceful acceptance of their fasting, their prayers and their good deeds.
The Secretary General availed of the occasion to draw the Muslim World’s attention to the moral imperative of standing side by side with their fellow Muslims who are in the grip of humanitarian crises. He addressed a particular appeal to the Member States and the humanitarian organizations in the Islamic World to be prompt in responding to the urgent humanitarian needs of the poor families and the underprivileged across the Islamic world. He also seized on the occasion to urge everyone to offer assistance to the refugees and the displaced who have fled away from the horrors of wars and conflicts in their land, and to endeavour to offer them undergirding and support and bear the way in the face of those who seek to attain suspicious objectives and to disunite the Islamic world.
Al Othaimeen expressed the hope that the leaders of the Islamic world will succeed during the blessed month of Ramadan in boosting Islamic solidarity, establishing peace and anchoring security, this being a precious occasion to better demonstrate the noble Islamic values that include altruism, generosity, moderation, tolerance, mutual coexistence among all human fellows, rejecting violence and extremism and combating terrorism.
