OIC Secretary General Receives the Representative of the European Union to OIC

01/06/2017- The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, has on 1st June 2017 received in his office H.E. Amb Michele Cervone, the Representative of the European Union to the OIC who was at the General Secretariat in continuation of talks between the OIC and the European Union on strengthening collaboration on shared interests between the two sides.

The Secretary General and the European Union Envoy reviewed the outcome of OIC-EU meeting held in Brussels and both sides agreed on the need for developing the modalities of moving forward to a concrete action on the agreements reached by the two sides.

During the meeting, the Secretary General restated the importance of the European Union as an important partner on the OIC’s continued efforts to promote peace, tolerance and dialogue; as well as countering extremism and terrorism. In this connection, Dr. Al-Othaimeen reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces any and all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all forms and manifestations, just as it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.
