Italy condemns terrorist attacks in Tehran

Tehran, July 1, IRNA -- Flavia Nardelli Piccoli, Vice President of the Commission for Culture, Science, and Education of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, condemned terrorist attacks in Tehran.

In a message, Piccoli voiced solidarity and sympathy with Iranian parliament deputies over the incident and said, “I am willing to voice my and that of all members of the Culture Commission of Italian House of Deputies’ solidarity, sympathy and concern over the cowardly sabotage action on Iranian Parliament.”

She said, “Violence against selected and representative institutions is source of hatred and concern exactly because of the nature of parliaments that is peaceful manifestation of nations and of their cultures, costumes and wishes and interests.”

Referring to her meeting and talks with her Iranian counterpart in Iranian parliament Nasrollah Pejman and a parliamentary delegation last month, the Italian top parliamentarian asked him to extend her sympathy and tribute to the Iranian deputies she had already met.

In two separate terrorist attacks on June 7 this year, the administrative building of Iranian parliament and the mausoleum of the father of the Islamic Revolution and founder of the Islamic Republic, late Imam Khomeini, were targeted by shooting of five armed suicide invaders of Daesh Takfiri terrorist group, as a result of which 17 were martyred and 56 others were injured.

Security sources say that through vigilance of police forces in Imam Khomeini mausoleum, one of the suicide assailants was shot before taking any action and another suicide bomber blew up himself.

Three of the assailants to the parliament building were killed during the clashes.

The Intelligence Ministry disclosed identity and photos of the terrorists and said, “Daesh operating team, that had been involved in the terrorist operations in Imam Khomeini Mausoleum and the parliament building, were five seasoned terrorist and affiliated elements of Wahabi and Takfiri groups, who left the country after being recruited by Daesh terrorist group and contributed to the crimes of the terrorist group in Mosul (in Iraq) and Raqqa (in Syria).”

Daesh terrorist group has undertaken responsibility for the attack on the parliament building and Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum.
