Khartoum hosts Leadership Forum of Sudan-Uganda Trade Unions
International Islamic News Agency | August 16, 2017- The Sudanese Ministry of Labor and Administrative Reform stressed the depth of relations between Sudan and Uganda, and that Kampala has been in a state of coordination with Khartoum in regional and
international forums.
This was made by Khalid Hassan Ibrahim, state minister at the ministry of Labor, while addressing the Forum of the Sudan-Uganda Leaderships of Workers Trade Unions, which kicked off in Khartoum on Monday.
During the forum scheduled to end on Wednesday, Ibrahim underlined the importance of dialogue among the social partners of governments, trade unions, workers and employers, to work for the achievement of a
common vision of future of work in Africa, on the basis of human dignity, justice and equality as well as principles of international laws and conventions protecting workers' rights.
Chairman of the Sudan Workers Trade Unions Federation (SWTUF) Eng. Yusuf Ali Abdulkarim praised the strong relations between the trade unions of Sudan and Uganda, saying that the closer people-to-people
ties between the two countries that are based on history, the Nile and the good neighborliness.
He revealed that a framework agreement on the exchange of experiences and interests between Sudanese and Ugandan trade unions will be signed during this forum.
For his part, the secretary general of Uganda's National Organization of Trade Unions (NOTU) underscored the need for unity among workers in both countries and lauded the stances of the Sudanese Workers
Trade Union in support of the Ugandan Trade Unions Movement.
