OIC Condemns Terrorist Attack on Coptic Church in Egypt
29/12/2017- The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on Mar Mina Church in the southern Cairo neighborhood of Helwan. The assault on Friday 29 December 2017 left several people dead and injured.
The OIC Secretary General, Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen, offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, and his wishes for prompt recovery to the wounded. He also reaffirmed that the OIC continues to stand in unison with the Arab Republic of Egypt in combating terrorism and extremism and protecting its security and stability. The OIC stands shoulder to shoulder with Egypt in all measures taken to foil the designs of terror organizations and groups and preserve the security of the nation and the safety of its people, Dr Al-Othaimeen stressed.
Further, the OIC Secretary General commended the vigilance of Egyptian police officers, pointing out that the desperate terrorist attempts orchestrated with the foul objective of undermining the country’s security and stability will not take away from the unity of the Egyptian people. The OIC is firm in its stance rejecting all forms and manifestations of terrorism and violent extremism, Dr Al-Othaimeen reaffirmed.
