Light quake shakes western Iran
January 21, 2018 - An earthquake measuring 4.2 on Richter scale jolted Qasr-e Shirin in the western province of Kermanshah at 5:49 hours local time (02: 19 GMT) on Sunday.
According to the Seismological Center affiliated to the Institute of Geophysics of Tehran University, the epicenter of the quake was registered at 45.62 degrees longitude and 35.57 degrees latitude at the depth of 14 kilometers underground, IRNA reported.
The epicenter of the quake was registered at seven kilometer of Qasr-e Shirin, 25 km of Sarpol-e Zahab and 35 km of Ezgeleh.
No casualties or property damages have been reported, deputy governor of Qasr-e Shirin governor for political and social affairs, Nematollah Nazparvardeh.
The area has been jolted by about 1,900 quakes since the major tremor rocked Kermanshah province on November 12, 2017, when a 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit the province's Ezgeleh region killing at least 620 people and injuring over 12,000.
