Iran's auto sector witnesses growth in output
April 21, 2018 - Iran's auto industry registered a 13.7-percent growth in production in the year which ended on March 20, 2018, according to industry ministry figures.
Iranian auto manufacturers produced over 1.535 million cars during the 12-month period, Trend News Agency reported.
The country's auto output during February 20-March 20 reached 130,747 vehicles, which is 4.9 percent more than the figure for same month last year.
Iran manufactured 1.44 million passenger cars in the last fiscal year, showing an increase 14.8 percent year-on-year.
Iranian car makers produced 72,502 pick-ups in the 12-month period indicating a 6.7-percent decline year-on-year.
Minibus and van output stood at 1,381 and 964 vehicles respectively. While the minibus production recorded a growth of 52.6 percent, Iran's van output increased by 6.4 percent.
Iran's annual bus output also stood at 1,782, registering an increase of 53.9 percent compared to the 12-month period of preceding year (1,158 vehicles).
Iranian auto makers also produced 16,593 units of various trucks in the last fiscal year, which is 8.8 percent more year-on-year.
Over 1.350 million cars were produced in Iran in the fiscal year to March 20, 2017.
Iran's car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent decline compared to the figure for the preceding year.
