Indonesia's 2017 GDP Growth to Reach 5.2 Percent: Finance Minister
April 12, 2017- Indonesia's economic growth this year will probably exceed the government's official target and reach 5.2 percent, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said on Tuesday (11/04).
Sri said she expects Indonesia's exports and imports to no longer decline this year.
"The government will use the state budget to push the momentum for consumption and investment," Sri said during a 2018 budget preparation meeting with government agencies.
The government's official growth target this year is 5.1 percent. Next year's target is set at 5.6 percent, pending parliament approval.
In the same meeting, Sri said her ministry will try to manage next year's state budget deficit at between 1.9 percent and 2.3 percent of gross domestic product. The 2017 state budget assumes a deficit of 2.41 percent of GDP.
Minister of National Development Planning Bambang Brodjonegoro said earlier in the meeting that the 2018 state budget will assume rupiah trading at 13,700 per dollar on average. Also, the budget will assume oil lifting of 800,000 barrels per day and gas lifting of 1.2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.
