UAE, Germany discuss means of boosting economic cooperation

April 28, 2017- Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al Saleh, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade and Industry, and Frank Horch, Hamburg Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport and Innovation, discussed means of developing cooperation in the economic and trade areas.

The meeting took place in Hamburg on the sidelines of the Hannover Messe exhibition, and focused on potential areas of cooperation between the UAE and Hamburg in commerce, business investment, and industry, with an emphasis on available opportunities in the transport, aviation and port sectors.

Al Saleh stated that the UAE and Germany enjoy growing bilateral relations at all levels. The UAE is Germany’s first trading partner in the region, with a total trade volume of $15 billion in 2015, reaching $11 billion at the end of the third quarter of 2016.

Horch also highlighted the fact that the UAE is Germany’s largest trading partner in the region and one of the largest trading partners for the City of Hamburg while expressing his desire to develop mutual economic cooperation, especially in tourism, to benefit from the opportunities offered by both parties as leading international tourist destinations.
