18 Omani exporters to visit Egypt to enhance trade relations

May 10, 2017- A trade delegation of 18 high-profile Omani exporters will be visiting Egypt for a two-day visit, led by the investment and export promotion agency Ithraa.

The visit will start on 16 May in Cairo and will include a series of business-to-business meetings held with Egyptian importers, agents, and manufacturers in order to develop new business opportunities and strengthen existing trade and investment ties in the sectors of food processing, marble, pharmaceuticals, and plastics.

“The key objective of our visit to Egypt is to introduce our hosts to a range of high-quality Omani products. Today, Omani goods are sold to 136 countries, and they enjoy a strong international reputation for quality. In 2016, Omani companies exported $43.6m of goods to Egypt, up from $42.7m in 2015, so the Omani companies participating in this trade mission are looking to explore the exciting opportunities on offer in Egypt,” said Nasima Al Balushi, Ithraa’s director general of export development.

Egypt continues to maintain its position as the Arab world’s largest consumer market. With an estimated 92 million citizens, and as one of the world’s fastest growing populations, the demand for food products, in particular, is expected to continue to grow.

Salem Al Bortamani, a delegate on the trade mission to Egypt, has expressed his gratitude towards the organisation of this visit by the Ithraa, saying that it provides the delegation with an opportunity to meet potential buyers as well as get a better understanding of the consumer trends driving Egypt’s growing food sector.
