Turkmenistan establishes ties with world's leading oil, gas companies
May 24, 2017- Turkmenistan is establishing strategic partnership in the energy sector with various countries by expanding it in the European, Asian, Far Eastern and South-Western directions, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
President Berdimuhamedov made the remarks while addressing to the participants of the 8th Turkmenistan Gas Congress in Avaza, Turkmenistan May 23.
“Turkmenistan is establishing mutually beneficial relations with the world's leading financial and oil and gas companies,” the president added.
Turkmenistan’s favorable geopolitical location creates favorable conditions for the implementation of big international projects. The gas pipelines laid to the neighboring countries, namely, China and Iran, testify to it.
"The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline, which is being rapidly built, will be among those big international projects soon,” the president said. “The project will become a worthy contribution to the progressive development of Turkmenistan's fuel and energy complex."
The Turkmenistan Gas Congress and the exhibition dedicated to the congress are designed to play an important role in diversification of the national economy, drawing of investments for joint development of oil and gas fields, increasing of the volumes of the products having a great demand in the world markets.
During the event the experts will exchange views on a number of relevant issues, including diversification of gas transportation routes, ensuring energy security at the regional and global levels, development of the gas export potential.
"The development of the gas industry, full-scale establishment of oil, gas, chemical production, intensification of equal cooperation at regional and global levels serve to strengthen Turkmenistan’s position in the international arena," Berdimuhamedov said.
This year Turkmenistan has been chairing the Energy Charter Conference, which will expand the opportunities for cooperation with the members of this major international organization at multilateral, regional and bilateral levels, as well as for ensuring the security of transit supplies of energy resources.
The importance of Galkynysh, which is the second largest field in the world, located in the east of Turkmenistan, was also stressed.
