Bank of Indonesia to issue sukuk
The Jakarta Post | November 4, 2018- ank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo says the central bank will issue sukuk in an effort to improve liquidity in the secondary market.
He did not go into the detail about the plan, but assured the sukuk would be issued next month. “The draft is done. We are now in final discussions over the draft,” Perry said in Jakarta on Thursday as quoted by kontan.co.id.
He explained that the investment instrument would be issued in three tenors – two weeks, one month and three months.
Perry said improved liquidity was needed in the secondary market because although the government had issued sukuk often, many investors retained them until they reached maturity.
“We hope to improve liquidity as sukuk are used in interbank transactions,” he added. (bbn)
