Iran to provide households with access to 5G Internet by March: Minister

September 27, 2020 - The Iranian Ministry of Information and Communication Technology will provide households in some parts of the country with access to 5G Internet by March 2021.

The remarks were made by Minister of Information and Communication Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi in a ceremony on Sunday in Tehran to unveil the uses of 5G Internet, IRNA reported.

He said the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) of Iran has issued the permits to this end.

The minister noted that the government will do its best to provide households in the most populated areas of the country with access to 5G Internet within the next six months.

Being the fifth generation technology standard for cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019, 5G is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide connectivity to most current cellphones.
