Kyrgyz and Uzbek FMs discuss topical issues of bilateral relations
11/01/2019- As part of his working visit to Uzbekistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Chingiz Aidarbekov, met with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the two ministers discussed current topical and promising issues of Kyrgyz-Uzbek bilateral relations in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as cross-border cooperation, interaction within international and regional organizations, implementation of previously achieved arrangements.
The sides noted with satisfaction the special role of the presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan in resolving existing issues and enhancing bilateral relations.
The ministers agreed on the need for further intensification of bilateral relations through the planned high level visits for 2019, regular meetings of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Council of Heads of Border Areas chaired by the heads of governments of the two countries active work on the description of the remaining areas on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border. Negotiating the schedule of upcoming events, the sides stressed the importance of high-quality preparation of upcoming visits at the highest and high levels.
Special attention was paid to the development of economic relations, the creation of favorable conditions for increasing mutual trade, the supply of agricultural products, and the establishment of joint ventures in the Kyrgyz Republic.
There was an in-depth exchange of views on topical issues on the international agenda and cooperation between the two countries in international organizations.
Following the talks, the sides stressed the importance of further expanding and deepening the historically established good-neighborly bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on the basis of mutually beneficial cooperation and strategic partnership.
