Investment of Indonesian company in Afghanistan

Wednesday, 20 September 2017 - The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries chief executive officer Mr. Attiqullah Nasrat met with Indonesian ambassador His Excellency Dr. Arif Rahman at Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Wednesday, 20th September 2017. He was accompanied by a delegation from Vika, a robust Indonesian company working in the infrastructure, construction of hydroelectric dams, tunnels, excavation and mining, energy and housing sectors.

Besides welcoming the ambassador and the delegation, Mr. Nasrat explained the existing investment opportunities in the solar energy, fossil fuel and construction sectors. He said “government of Afghanistan is strongly committed to attract and support foreign direct investment in the country as well as some necessary and positive steps has been taken way such as land lease facilitation, electricity, extension in the duration of business licenses from one year to three years and low tax rates in comparison to the regional countries. According to the survey conducted by the World Bank shows that Afghanistan is a suitable country for investment. At the end Mr. Nasrat pledged that Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries will support Vika Company to invest in Afghanistan. He also called on the delegation to submit their proposals and recommendations to us and we will share it with the high economic council and the relevant ministries. At the end the Indonesian ambassador thanked Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries for their cooperation and showed his gratification for Vika interest to invest in Afghanistan. Representatives of Vika explained their activities through a video presentation and showed their willingness to invest in Afghanistan individually as well as through partnership with other Afghan companies.
