ACCI CEO meets with ITC Executive Director

Wednesday, 15 November 2017 - On November 15th, 2017, Mr. Atiqullah Nusrat, ACCI Chief Executive Officer, during 7th Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan, (RECCA) met with Mrs. Arancha Gonzalez, the Executive Director of international trade center, ITC. Both sides discussed several matters of interest.

Mrs. Gonzalez appreciated ACCI efforts for strengthening Afghanistan’s business and economic relations with countries of the region and the World. On behalf of International Trade Center, ITC, she pledged any kind of cooperation to strengthen Afghan entrepreneurs and fulfill the national export strategy for Afghanistan. ITC Executive Director Mrs. Gonzalez also called for information on the progress of the National Export Strategy, the National Business Strategy, and Public private Discourse in this regard. She also emphasized for holding Afghanistan-Uzbekistan Business Conference and the Uzbek Market Survey for Afghan Products.

Mr. Atiqullah Nusrat, thanked ITC Executive Director for their all kind of support for private sector and their role in the development of national exports strategy for Afghanistan. Mr. Nusrat expressed hope that this strategy will make us able to compete at regional and international levels and become independent.

Mr. Nusrat added, "Since sometime the government and private sector hold continuous and deliberative talks for drafting and development of the National Export Strategy. By implementing this strategy, most of the export problems will surely be resolved.

Mr. Nusrat reminded about the active participation of Afghan businessmen in most of the exhibitions and conferences and said: "Meanwhile, there is a lot of demand for Afghan products, but these products cannot be available to international markets as needed. We need support for having certificates for Afghan products. He mentioned Afghan pignuts in this regard to reach Chinese markets.

Mr. Nusrat reminded of the success of the air corridor with India and hoped to see the opening of new air corridors with some other countries of the region in the future. He also reminded of an awareness survey on various commercial and economic issues for members of the private sector in the center and provinces, and creation of Afghanistan's commercial home in Uzbekistan.
