ICCI signs MoU for improving trade with Greece

The Express Tribune | September 22, 2017- The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and the Greek-Pakistan Entrepreneurship Cooperation Initiative have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to make joint efforts for further improving bilateral trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Greece.

ICCI President Khalid Iqbal Malik and Greek-Pakistan Entrepreneurship Cooperation Initiative President Maria-Rubina G Markopoulou signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik said bilateral trade between Pakistan and Greece did not reflect the actual potential of both countries. However, it could be improved by promoting connectivity between private sectors of both the countries and encouraging frequent exchange of trade delegations.

The ICCI president was of the view that both countries had the potential to cooperate with each other in solar energy, tourism, agriculture and infrastructure development for achieving mutually beneficial results. “Pakistan and Greece need to improve their commercial and economic relations by taking advantage of new business opportunities,” Markopoulou suggested.

She said olive oil was one of the major and well-known products of Greece, which could get a good response in Pakistan market. Cooperation in solar energy could also be one of the areas for strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
