Cargo handling increases at Pakistan’s Karachi port

The Gulf Today | January 22, 2018- Karachi port handled 5.28 per cent more cargo during the first six months (July-December) of FY2017-18, at 27.198 million tonnes, compared to 25.83 million tonnes handled in the same period of last fiscal.

Similarly, container handling also gained momentum, at 1.107 million TEUs (twenty feet equivalent unit), as against 0.976 million TEUs handled in the corresponding period last year.

However, it is remarkable that the Karachi Port, during the period under review, handled more export cargo at 5.52 million tonnes which showed a growth of around 14.86 per cent over the same period last year when 4.81 million tonnes were handled.
