OIC Secretary General Receives New Ambassador of Chad and Permanent Representative to OIC
06/02/2017 - The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen received on Monday, 6th February 2017, at the General Secretariat, Mr. Ousmane Matar Breme, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Chad to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the OIC.
During the audience, Ambassador Breme stressed the importance of the OIC to his country and commended the positive role being played by the Organization in the promotion of Islamic solidarity and joint Islamic action. He expressed the keenness of his country to further reinforce the existing bilateral relations between Chad and the OIC in all fields especially in the socio-economic, development and cultural spheres as well as countering terrorism. He also briefed on the contributions of Chad in the preservation of peace and security in the Central Africa and Sahel region.
On his part, Dr Othaimeen reaffirmed the OIC’s commitment to continue to support Chad and the region and assured the envoy of the determination of OIC to contribute to peace building, security, development and progress of its Member States. He congratulated Chad for the election of its Foreign Minister, HE. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, as the incoming Chairperson of the African Union Commission and for its leadership in the region. He raised concern at the menace of terrorism confronting countries of the Lake Chad Basin and reiterated the principled position against extremism and terrorism in all their forms and manifestation for whatever reason and by whosoever.
