Iran’s 6-Month Trade with ECO Members Tops $4.5bln

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s trade with nine Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states amounted to $4.5 billion over the first half of the current year (March 20-September 21), according to the Spokesman of Iran’s Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi.
Latifi said that Iran’s trade with ECO members over the six-month period reached some 9.1 million tons in weight and $4.5 billion in value.
“Iranian share of the exports to the ECO states amounted to nearly $2.52 billion in the mentioned period reaching 6.54 million tons in terms of weight,” he added.
He said that Afghanistan was the main destination of Iran’s goods among ECO members by importing some $1.1bln of goods from Iran.
“Iran imported approximately $2.01 billion of products from ECO members over the first half of this year which amounted to 2.65 million tons in terms of weight,” he added.
He said that Turkey was the main exporter of commodities to Iran among ECO member states in the mentioned time with $1.8 billion of goods exported to Iran.
In relevant remarks earlier in October, Head of IRICA Mehdi Mirashrafi had said that the volume of exported goods was three times more than imports in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-September 21).
Mir-Ashrafi said that 83 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded at customs offices of the country in the first half of the current year.
