The National Center for the Development of Sericulture and Homework has been opened in Margilan, Ferghana region
Uzbekistan is famous for preserving the most ancient species, traditions, methods and schools of folk arts and crafts. The ongoing reforms expand the opportunities for the development of craftsmanship, provide incentives for the representatives of the sphere, and fully support the types of handicrafts handed down from generation to generation. Young people are trained in crafts based on the traditions of the mentor-disciple form of school.
In the Ferghana region, special attention is paid to improving the well-being of the population, ensuring employment of young people, women and low-income families through the development of handicrafts. An important policy document in this direction is the Resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures for the further development of handicrafts and comprehensive support for artisans”.
The region is currently home to more than 1,300 artisans. In Margilan, Kokand, as well as Rishtan district, their schools of handicrafts have been formed. The establishment of the National Center for the Development of Sericulture and Homework will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of handicrafts.
“The center will work to support artisans and homeworkers who produce silk goods, provide jobs for women and disabled people, help young craftspeople, manufacture export-oriented fabrics from local raw materials,” said Rasuljon Mirzaahmedov, head of the regional branch of the Hunarmand Association. “Currently, there are seven workshops in the center. Also, a gallery of national handicrafts and a handicraft training center are open.”
Today, 400 women and young people from Margilan, Ferghana, Tashlak and Rishtan districts study secrets of various crafts here. This year, the center plans production of goods for $ 14.5 million.
Crafts made in our country enjoy great popularity among tourists. The center will definitely take a special place in the extensive promotion of national craftsmanship. Arriving in Margilan, guests will have the opportunity to visit workshops and get acquainted with the production process.
